Creating an outdoor space for women living in Elmbridge borough and surrounding area

There is an increasing amount of evidence to suggest that women benefit from spending time in natural environments. Studies show that good access to green or recreational spaces has been found to improve mental and physical wellbeing and improve social contact and reduce feeling of loneliness.

The vision is to establish an ongoing community space and garden for local women to meet other women, engage in educational activities, seasonal crafts, cooking workshops and regular gardening activities. The garden will also offer a pace for self-reflection, foster friendships, and the learning of new hobbies and skills.

Regular group events will give opportunities to learn about the benefits of gardening, growing food, studying medicinal plants and increasing self sufficiency.

Currently we are running Green Gym sessions every Friday, helping women to gain fitness through verity of garden activities. Anyone can join the Green gym. Bookings are done via upcoming events link.

The Women’s Wellbeing Hub space and Wellbeing Garden is a woodland area within the Home Farm Allotments, Rydens Road, Walton on Thames, Surrey.
